Pinus
Resinosa, commonly known as Red (Norway) Pine is the only softwood
species naturally found in the northern Great Lakes region that
readily accepts CCA treatment. In its roundwood form, Red Pine is
used for poles, pilings, cabin logs and posts.
The strength properties of Red Pine make the wood ideal for use
in construction applications, such as girders, beams, joists, studs
and trusses. Red Pine is 30% less dense than yellow pine, which
makes it naturally easier to climb or use for framing. Red Pine
also remains lighter after treatment, which helps to minimize freight
cost.
Biewer Lumber and its divisions are located in the heart of Red
Pine country in the Great Lakes region. Our landowner management
program ensures the protection and future availability of our products,
as well as environmental responsibility. Biewer foresters work hard
to procure only the best logs for pole production while maintaining
environmentally sound harvest practices.
Once the logs arrive at the sawmill, the straightest of those are
chosen for Biewer poles. Our central location enables us to pass
savings on to our customers in freight, especially because Red Pine
is lighter than yellow pine.
