Wood poles have faithfully served our nation's communications and electricity delivery systems for over 100 years. From the days of the telegraph to today's cable and fiber optic systems, wood poles have demonstrated their effectiveness to generations of utility engineers and building contractors.

Since the 1940s, a chemical preservative called Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) has been used as a way to effectively preserve wood poles for long-term durability. Pressure-treating wood utility poles with CCA renders the wood fiber useless as a food source for fungi and termites.

CCA-treated lumber is highly leach-resistant and provides optimal reactivity and fixation without leaving unwanted corrosive by-products on the surface of the poles. This makes the pole clean to the touch and non-staining to utility work crews and anyone else who may come into contact with them.

CCA-treated Pole Facts:
RUS (REA) approved
Resistant to termite and fungal decay
Excellent climbing characteristics
No future ground line remedial treatment required since CCA fixation virtually eliminates preservative migration
Low corrosiveness
No pole rotation required due to CCA emulsion's high viscosity
Environmentally friendly
Odor-free
Clean to the touch

Biewer Pole is committed to the health and safety of our employees, our customers and the public. For more information about CCA and the safety of its use, please visit www.ccasafetyinfo.com.
